The man shot has been identified as Jacob Bucher III and the details about what happened are a bit more detailed than what we originally reported based on statements from city officials.

It is now known that Bucher's van and Buche himself matched the description of a shooter and a van used in a shooting within the Harrisburg City limits on Wednesday.

Harrisburg City Police Corporal Jeremy Crist attempted a traffic stop, but Bucher continued finally pulling over near Cameron and Maclay streets around 12 p.m. on  March 13, as detailed in the affidavit of probable cause.

But he wasn't stopping to comply with the officer, he was stopping to exit the vehicle, pull out a gun, and begin firing at Crist, police detailed in the affidavit. Crist hid behind a utility pole but Bucher continued towards him while firing the gun. That's when Crist fired back, but Bucher didn't stop. At that moment, backup arrived in the form of an unmarked police vehicle. Bucher tossed the gun and tried to flee. The driver, Harrisburg City Police Officer Jeremy Sborz, hopped out to pursue him and use a TASER device on Bucher, as explained in the affidavit.

"The officer was not hit," City of Harrisburg Director of Communications Matt Maisel said, explaining that the officer "returned fire and struck the [man] who was shooting at him." The man was hit and taken to an area hospital.

Bucher has since been released from the hospital, but remains in police custody, and he has been charged with the following according to the DA: attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault of a law enforcement officer, recklessly endangering another person, and violations of the Uniform Firearms Act.
